Learn to Sail - Beneteau First 22
3 hour classes conducted daily at10AM
Registration fee = $69 in advance/$99 at the show (ADMISSION INCLUDED w/ADVANCE REGISTRATION)
Are you new to Sailing (or just a little rusty)?   Learn how easy and fun sailing is by participating in this on water learning event that covers essential skills every sailor must know.  During these 3-hour classes you’ll learn how to:
·         raise, lower and trim the sails
·         steering techniques and helmsmanship
·          how to turn, slow and stop the boat
·         how to tack and jibe,
·         and more

Coastal Cruising Fundamentals - Beneteau First 22
3 Hour classes conducted daily at 2PM
Registration Fee = $99 in advance/$125 at show (ADMISSION INCLUDED w/ADVANCE REGISTRATION)
Participants in this class will learn boat control skills and techniques that are the foundation for competence, confidence and safety.  These essential skills include:
·         heaving to
·         reefing and getting underway
·         adjusting sails to balance the helm
·         steering with the sails
·         and crew overboard recovery methods.

Essential Charter Skills - Monohulls - Jenneau 44i
3 Hour classes conducted daily at 2PM
Registration Fee = $99 in advance/$125 at show (ADMISSION INCLUDED w/ADVANCE REGISTRATION)
Whether you're dropping the hook in a deserted cove for a quiet lunch or pulling into a crowded anchorage for the week, solid anchoring & mooring skills will help minimize your anxiety and assure the safety of your boat (and those around you!).  This class will focus those skills that are essential to securing the boat with confidence and without drama including:
·         Maneuvering under power
·         Anchoring and rigging a snubber including techniques for a crowded anchorage
·         Picking up a mooring ball and rigging a mooring bridle
·         Weighing anchor and departing an anchorage
·         Casting off and departing a mooring field
·         Crew communications
·         When an how to set up an anchor watch
·         Discussion of two anchor setups.
This class is a must for those who are preparing for their first charter or who simply want to sharpen their skills and confidence with a professional instructor. Limited to 5 Participants per class. REGISTER NOW
 
Introduction to Cruising Catamarans - Fountaine Pajot
3 Hour classes conducted daily at 10AM
Registration Fee = $99 in advance/$125 at show (ADMISSION INCLUDED w/ADVANCE REGISTRATION)
Participants will experience firsthand the expansive comfort, impressive speed and precise maneuverability of the modern cruising catamaran along with the unique sailing and handling needs of larger “Cats”.  This exclusive program is ideal for newcomers and monohull sailors with little to no experience on multihulls - and it's the perfect way to see if a cruising catamaran – your own or chartered  - is in your future.  
Our Certified instructors will cover Cruising Catamaran fundamentals including:
  • Upright sailing versus heeling
  • Optimizing performance on different points of sail – cats vs. monohulls
  • Techniques for managing light air – especially when tacking or jibing
  • Selecting best sail trim/angle for optimum speed
  • Sailing to weather and understanding leeway
  • Avoiding the  “go/no go zone”

Two Can Sail Couples Cruising Seminar

Hosted by couples instructors and lifelong cruisers and Jeff Grossman and Jean Levine, the "Two Can Sail Couples Cruising Seminar" will give you and your partner the tools and perspectives you need to safely pursue the cruising lifestyle as a couple. We have assembled an outstanding group of marine professionals who have varied experience and background to present you with a balanced educational experience. Who are the presenters? Couples who are also captains, ASA Instructors, authors, marine surveyors, and a meteorologist.
 
This seminar is more than just a whole day of power point presentations. The hard data is balanced with fun—lots of good information mixed in with sea stories and fantastic photos—as all of the presenters share their expertise to help make the dream a reality for you and your partner.
 
Attendees will receive tickets to the Sunday Boat Show, and one lucky couple will win a SPOT Messenger provided by SeaTech Systems.

Celebrate the Valentine’s Holiday weekend on the water with a loved one—Join us at the Progressive® Insurance Strictly Sail® Miami show for a sunset cruise on the beautiful Biscayne Bay.
 
This amazing opportunity has very limited availability, so register early.

Sunset cruises will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the show and include a wine toast and lite snack.
You'll leave the dock at 5:30 pm and return by 7:30 pm.

Not Ready for the Water? Come Sail Away on the Sailing Simulator and take a free sailing lesson.

Get a feel for the water without leaving the show on a virtual sailboat ride. A certified small boat instructor will be on hand to offer you a free sailing lesson and the chance to experience how a boat reacts to the wind and waves without leaving dry land. (weight restrictions apply)

Designed and built by a nuclear physicist, the sailing simulator re-creates the actual movement of a boat under sail. It’s a unique training platform for sailors of all abilities—whether you’re a new boater who wants to learn how to sail a small boat or an experienced small boat sailor who wants to practice under different sailing conditions. Cruising Outpost Magazine to host annual Cruisers' Party— Saturday, February 18, 2017 from 6-9pm

 
Everyone's invited to free beer and pizza plus the Eric Stone Band will be performing island tunes with a bit of rock and roll.
 
Join others with your same passion for sailing, along with the exhibitors and industry folks, for a great evening of free pizza, beer, and soft drinks at the 16th annual Cruisers' Party!  Enjoy island music with a live performance by Eric Stone.
 
Rules? Only one!  Be inside the gates before the Show closes on Saturday, February 18th at 6pm. Cruising Outpost's Cruisers' Party has become one big “must-attend” event.  Pizza, beer and soft drinks are free... Fun to be had by all!
You must be 21 to consume alcohol.
